The approval of a large distribution center project for the Pyaterochka retail chain in the Poletaevo-2 area near Chelyabinsk marks not only a significant step in the development of regional logistics, but also creates a powerful incentive for an entire segment of the industry — manufacturers and suppliers of specialized refrigeration equipment. The construction of an 89,000-square-meter facility, of which approximately 60,000 square meters will be dedicated to storage facilities, directly generates a large-scale and technologically complex order for the installation of low- and medium-temperature storage areas.

For companies involved in industrial refrigeration equipment, this project presents a complex challenge and opportunity. Firstly, it is a direct contract for the supply, installation, and launch of storage systems. Secondly, a facility of this magnitude, serving a key retail chain, will serve as a high-level reference, paving the way for other similar tenders in the region. Thirdly, the subsequent operation of the center will require service maintenance, upgrades, and the supply of consumables, fostering long-term partnerships. Thus, the project stimulates both operational and strategic activity among players in this market, forcing them to demonstrate reliability, energy efficiency, and compliance with the strict standards of modern logistics.

As a result, the implementation of this project by the end of 2026 will serve as a catalyst for the localization and introduction of advanced refrigeration technologies in the Southern Urals. This will require a well-coordinated approach from equipment suppliers, a deep understanding of logistics processes, and the ability to ensure the smooth operation of all cold chain components throughout the region.

In December 2025, Copeland—a global leader in compressor manufacturing—unveiled a new development: a CO₂ scroll compressor featuring Dynamic Vapor Injection (DVI) technology. This milestone marked a significant step in the evolution of industrial refrigeration equipment, as the combination of the natural refrigerant CO₂ and an advanced vapor injection system opens up new possibilities for enhancing energy efficiency, reducing operating costs, and meeting environmental regulations.
