Two well-known players in the climate equipment market, the German compressor manufacturer Bitzer and Mitsubishi Electric's Hydronics and IT Cooling division (MEHITS), have announced the launch of a joint venture. The project has been named Bitzer MEHITS Advanced Solutions GmbH. The main objective of the new entity will be the design and production of compressors specifically designed for complex ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems in data centers.

The production facilities and the joint venture's headquarters will be located at the Bitzer plant in the German city of Rottenburg am Neckar. Bitzer will retain a majority stake.
This strategic decision will allow the two leading companies to combine their expertise and resources. The partners have been collaborating for over a quarter of a century, and they now intend to create more efficient and specialized solutions for MEHITS customers. By working together on technology, they will be able to better tailor their products to the needs of global markets.
Practical benefits for the sector:
"This step gives us the opportunity to deepen our cooperation and work together to improve the efficiency of integrated system technologies," said Bitzer CEO Christian Wörle.
"Our in-house compressor technology is critical to meeting our growing demands," said Wataru Tsuruta, CEO of MEHITS.

In December 2025, Copeland—a global leader in compressor manufacturing—unveiled a new development: a CO₂ scroll compressor featuring Dynamic Vapor Injection (DVI) technology. This milestone marked a significant step in the evolution of industrial refrigeration equipment, as the combination of the natural refrigerant CO₂ and an advanced vapor injection system opens up new possibilities for enhancing energy efficiency, reducing operating costs, and meeting environmental regulations.
